Social Emotional Learning

At Riverside School, we believe that helping students develop strong social-emotional skills is just as important as supporting their academic growth. That's why we use the Second Step program to teach scholars the skills they need to be successful in school, at home, and in their future.

Second Step provides age-appropriate lessons that help students build self-awareness, self-management, empathy, positive relationships, and responsible decision-making. Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and real-life scenarios, scholars learn how to recognize and manage their emotions, solve problems respectfully, resolve conflicts, and make positive choices.

Lessons are taught regularly by classroom teachers and are reinforced throughout the school day as part of The Riverside Way. By creating a common language around respect, responsibility, and emotional well-being, we help foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every scholar feels valued and empowered to succeed.
